AWHT Colour Creations Blog Hop | Week 3 – Basic Gray

Welcome to the Art With Heart Team Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2021-2022. Each week members of the team will showcase a current colour (in alphabetical order) from the extensive Stampin’ Up! range.

Week 3: Basic Gray

You will find a number of products in the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue that feature Basic Gray including – Classic Stampin’ Pad, cardstock, ink refill, Neutrals 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Watercolor Pencils and Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers.

But my favourite Basic Gray products are……

Both of these gorgeous designer series paper packs are just so versatile as they lend themselves to a range of card making possibilities – feminine/masculine, engagements/weddings, birthdays, sympathy……to name just a few. The touches of copper, gold and silver foiling on the Simply Elegant Specialty DSP are lovely and who can resist a lovely neutral woodgrain. There are a number to choose between in the In Good Taste designer series paper.

My card:

My card features the Mountain Air stamp set and coordinating dies, Majestic Mountains. The Mountain Air stamp set is one of two sets in the Stampin’ Up! Reversibles™ range. You can see them on page 16 of the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue. My husband and I spend a lot of time in the Victorian High Country so this set was a must have for me.

My go-to tool at the moment is my set of blending brushes. I love the way they so smoothly add colour and dimension to any card.

To create my card I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped the moon using Basic Gray, masked it off and then applied the colours (Flirty Flamingo and So Saffron), using my blending brushes, to create my sunset sky.

I stamped and diecut the mountain ranges in both Basic Gray and Smoky Slate and the tree line in Basic Gray, before adding them to the lower half of my panel. The greeting is from the Art Gallery stamp set and it was diecut using a die from the All Dressed Up set.

I backed a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock with adhesive sheet and diecut two of the trees. I layered them, one on top of the other, for dimension and strength before adhering them to my card. The finishing touch was the stamping of the small flocks of birds around the moon to create a visual triangle.
