It also features in a number of designer series papers – Beauty of the Earth, Pansy Petals, Sweet Symmetry and You’re A Peach.

But my favourite Bumblebee products are……

A little back story……

In 2017 my husband and I travelled to the East Coat and Southern states of America. One of our favourite places was Charleston, South Carolina. We spent hours wandering through the historic markets and down to the waterfront. The houses are absolutely amazing and the waterfront area absolutely beautiful. Pineapples and the Palmetto tree adorn everything. The Palmetto tree can be found on the South Carolina flag. Pineapples are not grown in the area and never have been. Exotic fruit had to be imported so the pineapple became the symbol of great wealth and hospitality. Battery Promenade and Waterfront Park overlook Charleston Harbor and it is here that you will find the most lovely of fountain – The Pineapple Fountain. It was erected in 1990 after much of the historic and magnificent area was destroyed by Hurricane Hugo in Spring 1989. It was designed with the heritage of the area in mind and is the focal point of the park.

We visited in summer, hurricane season. In fact Hurricane Harvey hit Texas the day we arrived in New York and we left New Orleans just days before Hurricane Maria hit. The weather was so hot and humid that we spent all our days covered in perspiration. So, whenever I see pineapples I always think of Charleston and long hot summers, wealth and prosperity.

My card:

My card was designed as a celebration of an approaching retirement. I thought it appropriate to wish the retiree health, wealth and prosperity in their new life post full time work. This gorgeous textured die is from the In the Tropics set which coordinates with the Timeless Tropics stamp set.

I created my own designer series paper by stamping the smaller pineapple onto my panel of Basic White.

designer series paper sale:

And what better time to stock up on designer series paper? There are nine gorgeous sets of paper for sale during July including the four (mentioned above) that have Bumblebee as part of their colour palette.

I love the way the contrasting flowers really emphasise the yellow of Bumblebee. Pineapple is a perfect choice for this colour challenge.

Your card reminds me of my trip to the USA pre Covid when we went to Hawaii and visited a pineapple plantation. Such a lovely card Michele.

Ah yes, Bumblebee is a great colour for pineapples – your stamped background looks great with the DSP layer, then that yummy looking pineapple! I loved your story, but how scary that would have been. A great memory though 😉

  5. Vicki Boucher

The sentiment, and story, behind your card is just lovely, Michele. Thank you for sharing! Bumblebee is a gorgeous yellow from which to die cut that beautiful pineapple. This is a very special, cheery, card. 🙂
