Week 23 AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop – Gray Granite

Welcome to my Blog.

This is my first time contributing to a blog hop. This week the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop is featuring Gray Granite. Gray Granite was added to the Stampin’ Up! suite of colours during their recent colour revamp and I just love it and have found myself reaching for it time and time again. It works so well as a neutral with a wide range of colours. A lovely change from Whisper White or Sahara Sands.

My first card is a simple but sweet Christmas card made using the Making Christmas Bright Bundle. I used brighter shades of the traditional red, green and yellow in Real Red, Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight, which I teamed with Gray Granite. I stamped the Gray Granite card base front with the string of lights stamp using Gray Granite ink, for a tone on tone effect. I used the layering circles framelits to diecut the scalloped silver glitter circle, which I used to matt the greeting. To add a little colour I stamped a few stars amongst the the strings of lights and then punched some glitter stars for that extra bit of bling. The Twinkle Builder punch is perfect for that. It actually punches out three different sized stars. I used the middle sized one for this card.

My second card also features Gray Granite as the base card and a piece of designer series paper from Festive Farmhouse, also in Gray Granite. For this Christmas I have been enjoying making square cards. I absolutely love my Stamparatus and use it often to create wreath designs. Here I used the Making Christmas Bright Bundle again to stamp a wreath but this time a teamed it with Blamy Blue, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy and Real Red. The bulb bases were stamped using Gray Granite. To add some dimension and a little bit of interest I also stamped and punched out three of the Christmas lights to pop up. This design is so simple that I can see myself reproducing it over and over again using a range of different colours and designer series papers as the matt.

I hope that you are encouraged to use Gray Granite for your next project and if you would like to purchase any of the featured products, you live in Australia and don’t have a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I would love to assist you.

Thanks for stopping by. For more Gray Granite inspiration please follow the link back to Catherine’s blog for a full list of participants.

Thanks Kate. Still feel like a newbie. Only joined in late July and it took me a little while to get used to things. Hopefully I will be able to contribute on a regular basis.

Thanks Sharon. I know that red and green is more traditional but I do love the combination of red, blue and gray (silver) for Christmas.
