Week 24 AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop – Highland Heather

On a roll!!! Two weeks in a row but with Christmas fast approaching I am sure that it won’t last.

This week the AWH team are highlighting the colour Highland Heather which is a gorgeous darker mauve. I had a favourite aunt who loved purple in its many shades and tones. She wore the colour often and even decorated her home with it. So, as a consequence I am very fond of the colour. Highland Heather is another of the new colours added this year as part of the Stampin’ Up! colour revamp. It is a lovely shade and it looks lovely when teamed with Gorgeous Grape, Gray Granite and/or white. For today’s card I chose to use Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Whisper White as my main colours. I then added the complementary colour of Daffodil Delight and a little foliage using Granny Apple Green.

I love square cards and I particularly like a wreath design so, out came my trusty Stamparatus and the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set. I stamped my wreath on a 10cm square piece of Whisper White cardstock. I then firstly matted my stamped panel with a piece of Gorgeous Grape before adding a second matt of Highland Heather which I embossed with the Subtle embossing folder. To add a bit of dimension I attached the entire panel to a Highland Heather card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish the card I used the now retired Large Numbers framelits dies to diecut the number 80. To add some detail I also embossed the numerals using the Subtle embossing folder before misting them with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. Unfortunately, the lovely shimmer doesn’t really show up in my photos. The number was then adhered to the card using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

If you love the colour Highland Heather as much as I do and would like to purchase any of the supplies I used in making this card just follow the links below to my online shop.
