Welcome to Week 39 of the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are showcasing Poppy Parade which is one of the colours in the Stampin’ Up! Brights collection. Now a few weeks ago I confessed that I am not a lover of anything pink……well to say I am not a lover of the colour red is an understatement. To me, the only time red should be used is at Christmas time in one of my two favourite Christmas colour schemes – red, green and gold or red, navy, white and silver. However, I was determined to challenge myself and I am pretty happy with the result. In fact I honestly think that this is one of my all time favourite cards. Go figure!!!
It did take me a little while to come up with the idea and I did need to draw on several different pieces of inspiration. In an earlier blog post I mentioned that the All Adorned stamp set reminded me of Moracan and Turkish tiles so I looked back through a scrapbook from 2008 when our family visited Turkey and found some gorgeous photos of the beautiful Topkapi Palace in Istanbul.
I then drew on my favourite mug for colour inspiration. The red in the mug is an exact match to Poppy Parade, the purple is probably a bit darker than Highland Heather but I choose to use the lighter shade. The pattern on the mugs also has that Art Deco feel so they also matched the Art Deco style of the All Adorned stamp set.
And the result is……
I scored my square piece of Whisper White to replicate tiles and then used my trusty Stamparatus to stamp the motifs. I added a red rhinestone to the centre of each tile motif, a small sentiment off to the side and a matt of Highland Heather and my card was complete. I really love it and the memories that it invokes of a fabulous family holiday.

Wow what an impact this card has. I love the tiled look of it and the colours go together so well.
Oh Michele, what a great card using such memorable inspiration. I love how you added the sentiment and scored the white card to look like tiles!
A magical colour combo, one I would never pick, and yet when I clicked on your blog, excitement mounted. I love this, think I might need to experiment a bit with this stamp and some colours too.
Thud! That was my jaw hitting the ground! Absolutely stunning card! I love the geometric design, certainly evocative of the tiles. And the colours! A mix I never would have thought would work, but it does, and beautifully!
Michelle, I think this is one of my favourite of your gorgeous cards and it’s not a colour combination I’d normally use either but it looks lovely. I have a thing for encaustic tiles, which is exactly what your card reminds me of. Thank you for hopping along tonight!
Love your card Michele and how you brought your inspiration to it. Turned out fantastic – maybe you should use red more often – hehehe…
Great card Michele. I never would have come up with those colours, but they really work. You are the Stamparatus queen for sure, with all the beautiful creations you come up with!
