Welcome to the Colour Creations Showcase……the 2020-2021 version. This weekly showcase is brought to you by the Stampin’ Up! Art With Heart Team, Australia.
Week Seven: Cajun Craze
Cajun Craze is a colour I associate with Autumn. I love it teamed with earthy, rich colours such as Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Early Expresso, Olive Green, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry. I used this exact combination of colours and the ‘baby wipe’ technique when creating a card recently.
Cajun Craze forms part of the Stampin’ Up! Regals Colour Collection and I would describe it as a rusty burnt orange. There are several Cajun Craze products available in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. These include Classic Stampin’ Pad, A4 Cardstock, Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill, Stamp’ Blends Combo Pack and the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Regals Assortment.
my card:
For today’s card I used the leaves from the Rooted in Nature stamp set. I also used the spray of dots from Forever Fern and the script stamp from Very Versailles. The sentiment is again from my favourite and an absolute must have stamp set – Many Mates. I particularly like the small one line greetings. Not only are they fabulous greetings, they fit perfectly within the long, thin stitched die from the All Dressed Up set of dies. Again, another one of my absolute favourites. Who says you can’t buy a bundle for just one die???
Using some low tac tape I masked off a square on my panel of Shimmery White cardstock. I then sponged the area using Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie before stamping it with the script stamp and Crumb Cake ink. After removing the tape I then used Cajun Craze to stamp the two different sized leaves in a cascading pattern and then added a few dots of Early Expresso. I love little stamps like this spray of dots from the Forever Fern stamp set. It makes adding texture and a vintage feels so easy and so ‘controlled.’ 🙂
The final touch was the addition of some Pumpkin Pie jewels from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I have two sheets of these jewels. I have used the Night of Navy and Shaded Spruce on both sheets and the Cherry Cobbler and Coastal Cabana on one but up until a couple of weeks ago, none of the Pumpkin Pie. Today’s card features the last of them…..got figure! Oh well, something else to add to my next order. 😉
This is actually a very simple one layer card but the sponging and vintage style stamps I used, help to give it quite a bit of depth and texture.
Thanks for visiting but, there is so much more to see. Please hop back to Catherine’s blog where you will find links to all the other team members and their gorgeous creations.

Oh Wow, I love it just gorgeous. I really love the way you have gotten so much interest in your card just by the collage of stamping and the colour pallet is gorgeous!
I just love this clean and simple design, Michele. Those leaves look so gorgeous! I totally agree that even though it is a one layer card, it has such a look of depth and texture to it. Love it!
Beautiful cards but I would have to say my favourite is the 2nd one as I love the stamping across the card, it really flows like leaves on the wind.
Gorgeous Michele, I love this clean sponged look and your cards are beautiful and great colour combinations.
Oh wow Michelle, both your cards are gorgeous. I know one was made previously. but it is no less lovely. The baby-wipe technique is great for Cajun Craze with leaves. I love this week’s card with your masked sponged section with the stamped text overlay and the Cajun Craze leaves with the textual dots. The sentiment strip across the card works so well. I do so love it, in fact I like your card more than a “similar but different” card I made for tomorrow’s Showcase. You are such an inspiration. xxx
Another absolutely divine creation Michele.Love all your cards.
Michelle I love your rich autumnal colour combinations on both of your cards. Thank you for sharing your Cajun Craze inspiration with us tonight xx
You have used colour so beautifully on this card, Michele … it is just gorgeous! So clean, and crisp, yet with lovely colour depth and variation.
This is really beautiful Michele. I love the contrast of the skeleton leaves on the Whisper White.
I love your card, the colours, the masked square, everything!
Your card is wonderful! I love the cascade of leaves, and I’m totally with you on that long, thin die! I love the way you’ve used it for your sentiment.
