Orchid Oasis | Week 1 – AWHT CCBH 2022/23

Welcome to the Art With Heart Team’s Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2022-2023. Each week members of the team will showcase a colour from the extensive Stampin’ Up! range. This year we are starting with the fabulous NEW 2022-2024 In Colors.

Week 1: Orchid Oasis

Introducing this gorgeous mauve/blue – Orchid Oasis. This colour is very on trend as the Pantone Colour of the Year is a very similar colour called Periwinkle.

Being an In Color you will find a number of products in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue that feature Orchid Oasis.

But my favourite product to feature the colour Orchid Oasis is……

The colour collections designer series paper packs are an absolute must in your crafting/card making stash. These 6″ x 6″ packs of DSP are just so useful and the new designs are all sensational. To be honest, some years I don’t particularly like every pattern, but this year’s are all just so lovely and very, very useable. I do love a plaid and the striped stripe is fabulous, but it was the small floral that was simply perfect for my card.

My card:

I really wanted to showcase the new colours using one of my favourite design techniques – Stamping In The Round (wreath building), and the wonderful small florals in the Sending Smiles stamp set are absolutely perfect for this. I actually haven’t created a wreath design for a while, but in my preparation for my launch parties next week, I created a wreath design in every In Color.

After applying Orchid Oasis ink to the single flower stamp, I then used a sponge dauber to add some light and shade with the addition of some Starry Sky. I used the same method with the small flowers stamp. I inked it initially with Daffodil Delight, before adding some Mango Melody, with a sponge dauber.

The greeting is from the new Nature’s Prints stamp set and it was diecut using the new MUST HAVE Stylish Shapes dies. The stamped panel was matted with Starry Sky cardstock before being adhered to a larger matt of the In Color DSP. The card base is Orchid Oasis. As a finishing touch I coloured some rhinestones with my Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends and added these to my completed card.

I have enjoyed making samples and gifts for my launch party. As well as a range of cards, I also made small tea boxes for each attendee. These little boxes contain a tea bag, Kit Kat and Dairy Milk chocolate. I made several in each of the new In Colors and will showcase them over the coming weeks. They really are cute and I thank Angela Pyjas from Stamping With Amore for the original idea.
