Welcome to the Art With Heart Team’s Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2024-2025. Each week members of the team will be showcasing a colour from the extensive Stampin’ Up! range. We began the Stampin’ Up! year (May) with the fabulous NEW 2024-2026 In Colors before moving onto all the other colours, which we will highlight in alphabetical order.
Week 6: Basic Beige
Basic Beige isn’t actually a colour as such, more a neutral. In 2023 Stampin’ Up! discontinued my favourite ‘colour’ Sahara Sand and since then I have tried ever so hard to embrace Crumb Cake as my go-to neutral. The struggle is real people!!! But not any more……WELCOME Basic Beige!!! Stampin’ Up! surprised us this year with the inclusion of a sixth new colour. One to be added to the basic collection and I love it and am excited by the possibilities. I mean it just goes with everything, as hopefully you will see when you hop along tonight.
My cards:
Both of my cards use a stamp set that I recently purchased – Wild Ferns.
I always struggle to make cards with a more masculine or neutral feel and I thought that this bundle would suit anybody and everybody. I also think that it would be perfect for sympathy cards as well. The Fern embossing folder, which I have had forever and never used, is the perfect accompanying tool.
The fern was stamped in Mossy Meadow which was also my choice of colour for both matts and the greeting. It works so well with Basic Beige which has a slight green tint to it. The burlap textured image was stamped using Crumb Cake and as I had a few of the now retired Cork Rounds left, I used them to embellish my card, as I thought they were the perfect choice.
My second card uses all five images from the stamp set. The ferns were stamped using Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Shaded Spruce and Garden Green. The splatter (Spotlight On Nature) and burlap textured stamps were stamped using Crumb Cake. Again, the greeting and matt are Mossy Meadow.
I used a few Shaded Spruce sequins as the finishing touch on this card.
I love this large greeting from the Kindest Expressions stamp set. Sometimes a large greeting is all that you need.

I love the second card you created with the large sentiment that just pops and grabs my eye as soon as I saw it.
Gorgeous masculine cards, Michele. I especially like your second card with the stamped images around the edges. Great colour choices too.
A wonderful set of cards Michele. I really love the natural greens you have used and that burlap textured stamp is just fab! The stamped foliage around the edges on your second card and framing the sentiment is also fabulous.
Lovely cards, Michele, but I do love the first one with the dry embossed Fern 3D TIEF in the background and the stamping with the texture image. Great cards.
Well it sounds like you’re a bit happy with the addition of Basic Beige to the range of colours! You have definitely managed to create a couple of “neutral” cards as you put it. I especially love the teaming of the fern embossing folder and the fern stamp. They were made for each other.
Two gorgeous cards Michele. The first card has a simplicity of layout but so many features that add texture and interest. Yes, Mossy Meadows and Basic Beige are wonderful together. The framed sentiment is gorgeous surrounded by the different foliage in various greens. Love it. Like you I was so disappointed when Sahara Sand retired and am now so happy to have Basic Beige. You have introduced it with style. xxx
Both your cards are aso elegant, Michele! I love the Mossy Meadow matting on both cards and totally agree with you on the versatility of this colourQ
Really lovely cards, Michele. I thought Basic Beige might fill part of the hole in your heart, created by the departure of Sahara Sand! It looks great with the greens, and I love how you’ve used this stamp set.
Two beautiful cards Michele, snap on the use of Mossy Meadow with Basic Beige
These are both lovely cards Michele. Basic Beige appears to be perfect for this particular card. I like both, perhaps the first by just a touch.
