AWHT Colour Creations Showcase – Balmy Blue

Welcome to the Colour Creations Showcase……the 2020-2021 version. This weekly showcase is brought to you by the Stampin’ Up! Art With Heart Team, Australia.

Week One: Balmy Blue

Balmy Blue is a colour that I often use. It forms part of the Stampin’ Up! Subtle Colour Collection. It is a lovely medium to light blue that works well for nautical, nature and baby themed cards. I also use it quite often at Christmas time. One of my favourite Christmas colour schemes is…

Balmy Blue also looks good when teamed with one of the new ‘In Colors’ – Misty Moonlight. These two together with Night of Navy make for a great ombre effect or monochromatic colour scheme.

However, when I think Balmy Blue I think of the magnificent hydrangea bushes that grew by the front porch at my grandparents’ house in Wangaratta. Nanna and Pop both loved to garden. While Pop tended the very large veggie plot it was Nanna who was in charge of the flowers. She ensured that her hydrangea blooms were always the most gorgeous shade of blue by applying her special mix to the soil. She would also bury a few pennies in and around the soil at the base of each bush. It certainly worked as her hydrangea bushes were admired by all.

my card:

My card features the large hydrangea image from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set. This stamp set is one of Stampin’ Up!’s Distinktive™ range. The light and shade you are able to achieve with just one ink pad colour is fantastic. I do find that Distinctive™ stamps work best when your ink pad is not too juicy. I also used some of the dies and a greeting from the Ornate Garden suite, which can be found on pages 64 to 67 of the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. To complete the card I added some Night of Navy jewels from Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Thanks for visiting but, there is still plenty more to see. Please hop back to Catherine’s blog where you will find links to all the other team members and their gorgeous creations.

If you would like to purchase any of the products that I used when creating this card, the links are included below. If you would like a copy of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue please contact me and I will pop one in the post for you.

Thanks Michele.
