Crushed Curry | Week 16 – AWHT CCBH 2022/23

Welcome to the Art With Heart Team’s Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2022-2023. Each week members of the team will showcase a colour from the extensive Stampin’ Up! range. We began the Stampin’ Up! year with the fabulous NEW 2022-2024 In Colors and are now showcasing the other colours in alphabetical order.

Week 16: Crushed Curry

It appears a bit controversial given some comments I have read lately but, I actually love Crushed Curry. It is my favourite yellow in the Stampin’ Up! range and I use it often. Thank goodness we are all different.

You will find a number of products in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue and the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalogue that feature Crushed Curry.

But my absolute favourite product that includes Crushed Curry in it’s colour palette is, the Sale-a-bration designer series paper……

I have already used one complete pack of this gorgeous paper and am making my way through the second quite quickly. So much so, I am wondering what I might be able to order so that I can earn another pack before SAB ends on 31 August. 🙂

My card:

In a previous blog post I professed my love for not only the Rings of Love DSP but the coordinating Ringed With Nature bundle. You can see that blog post here.

My card tonight uses both of these fabulous products. I am not actually sure what the correct name for this type of card is. There are many versions on YouTube. Some crafters refer to it as a bendy card or a pop out card or a wobbly card so I am going to call it my Bendy Pop-out card.

To keep my card closed a created a belly-band that features images cut from the DSP, using coordinating dies from the bundle. I cut the twigs and leaves from Basic White cardstock and then coloured them in to match the twigs and leaves in the DSP, using my Stampin’ Blends.

Once the belly-band is removed, the card opens and the focal piece pops out. There is also a little mechanism on the back of the focal piece that is then attached to the bendy band which allows the focal piece to move around (wobble). Pretty cool.

I can see me using this fancy fold quite often as it would be perfect for Christmas trees (watch for this in an upcoming blog post), sail boats, light houses, floral bouquets, etc. The possibilities are endless.

And how perfect is this paper? I will be very sorry to see it go at the end of the month. (Public service announcement: You only have 14 more days to get yourself some!!!)

I used a stamp from the bundle to add a bit of something, something to my envelope.

Seems like the perfect paper to match with Crushed Curry. I do like the card design too.

This is a great card Michele, how cute are those birds! You have done a great job showcasing that beautiful DSP, and the pop-up is a lovely surprise.

  3. Kate Morgan

Here I was thinking it was a gatefold card, but what a wonderful surprise to see that pop out section when you open it. I love your soft colouring of the branches/leaves on the belly band and with that pretty birdy DSP on the inside. Brilliant card!

  4. Theresa Gerrard

What a fabulous card Michele and a great way to feature that beautiful paper. I can imagine how effective the wobbly bit would be and an added interest.

  5. Andrea Sargent

A delightful card Michele. I love your Bendy pop-out fancy fold and must explore it further. You have used this lovely DSP brilliantly and combined it fabulously with the dies and stamps. I love your extra touches with you Blends colouring of the twigs and leaves. Xxx

Really beautiful use of this gorgeous paper, and the matching dies, Michele. I laughed at Cathy’s comment … I was going to say something similar. I really love how you coloured the twigs and leaves to co-ordinate with the paper. Such a beautiful card.
