AWHT Colour Creations Showcase – Basic Gray

Welcome to the Colour Creations Showcase……the 2020-2021 version. This weekly showcase is brought to you by the Stampin’ Up! Art With Heart Team, Australia.

Week Two: Basic Gray

Basic Gray can be found in the Stampin’ Up! Neutrals Colour Collection. It is a nice dark gray that works perfectly as an alternative to black when stamping images and sentiments. There are several Basic Gray products available in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. These include Classic Stampin’ Pad, A4 Cardstock, Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill and the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Neutrals Assortment.

Basic Gray also features in two Designer Series Papers packs. In Good Taste is a stunning set of papers that have an overall neutral tone, therefore making it perfect to use for any occasion.

The Peony Garden designer series paper is predominately floral, however, a couple of the B-sides are more neutral. The Peony Garden suite can be found on pages 82 to 84 of the catalogue and I know that it is going to be a best seller!!!

my card:

My card features the Mountain Air bundle. This bundle is a new one for me as I only recently purchased it. It originally appeared in the January to June 2020 Mini Catalogue and I had toyed with the idea of buying it because Stephen and I do spend a lot of time in Victoria’s High Country. Fortunately, it has carried over as a bundle to the new annual catalogue and I haven’t stopped using it since it arrived in my big brown box. The Mountain Air stamp set is one of Stampin’ Up!’s Reversibles™ range. ‘Reversibles stamps are specialised photopolymer stamps you can stamp using both sides.’

When stamping the distant mountain range I used Smoky Slate and the ‘flat’ side of the stamp. I then used the detailed mountain range image (the reverse side) and Basic Gray to stamp over the initial image, before stamping the trees in the foreground using Shaded Spruce. The effect is one of depth. It is just like looking down the Alpine Valley. I diecut the completed panel using a die from the Ornate Layers die set. It was then adhered to the Basic Gray notecard to which I had already added an embossed panel of Coastal Cabana. A few trees and a sentiment and the card was complete.

Thanks for visiting but, there is so much more to see. Please hop back to Catherine’s blog where you will find links to all the other team members and their gorgeous creations.

If you would like to purchase any of the products that I used when creating this card, the links are included below. If you would like a copy of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue please contact me and I will pop one in the post for you.

Thanks Michele.
