It is time for the first Sketch Challenge #GDP222 of 2020 at the Global Design Project.
A sketch is a wonderful jumping off point when creating a card. For my card/s I followed the sketch quite closely while using the Bonanza Buddies Bundle. This bundle is certainly one of my favourite products from the new Stampin’ Up! January – June 2020 Mini Catalogue. I love everything about this bundle and the coordinating designer series paper. The colours are cheerful, the imagery playful and the sentiments are sweet and perfect for that special young or young at heart person in your life. This is the second card that I have created using this DSP and the Sale-A-Bration sequins. The first can be seen here.
My card features the lovely little lion and the colour scheme of Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and Whisper White. I stamped and diecut the lion but because I wanted some extra dimension I stamped and diecut a second mane which I then cut along the lines before slightly curling the pieces up.
I adhered him to a small panel of Whisper White that had been diecut using a stitched rectangle die and stamped with one of the sentiments from the stamp set. This was then attached to a piece of the DSP which was then in turn adhered, using dimensionals, to the front of the card.
Before adhering the DSP I had sponged the edges using Daffodil Delight. The final touch was to add a few sequins from the Metallic Baker’s Twine & Sequins Combo Pack which is a Sale-A-Bration product FREE with any $90 purchase.
I loved the card so much that I made a second, this time featuring the koala. I must admit that it does make me sad to look at this cheery little fellow and know that so many of our koalas have been killed or injured during the devastating bushfires ravaging south eastern Australia. But he is just so cute and we can take some comfort in that there are some real wildlife warriors out there doing their very best to rescue as many koalas as possible. If you are interested in making a donation in support of our koalas there are a number of very worthwhile organisations to whom you could donate. Wires (Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation) and the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park are just two of the wonderful organisations. You can donate via the WIRES website or KIWP have set up a Go Fund Me page. Of course if you prefer there is always the RSPCA who do outstanding work all year round in the protection of animals. Their page can be found here.
Sorry! I digress. This is my second card featuring the cuddly and very cute koala.
This card was made using the exact same steps as the first although I did add a party hat and pompom, because I could. As if she wasn’t already cute enough!!! The pompoms are part of the Birthday Bonanza Suite of products and they are a must have.
