Heart of Christmas – Week 14 2023

Welcome to the 2023 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. Each Monday, through until mid December, we will be showcasing all the fabulous seasonal supplies that Stampin’ Up! have to offer. This year we will be working with Christmas products found in the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue, those on offer as an Online Exclusive and new products from the Sept-Dec 2023 Mini Catalogue.

Two products that can be found in the mini catalogue are the……

and……

I didn’t originally purchase this DSP or bundle. But, I am so glad that I relinquished and popped it in my cart a few weeks ago. I have really enjoyed designing and making cards with these bright, happy, summer, Christmas colours.

my cards:

In my October card classes, participants made a card using this fancy fold. I originally saw this fold in a video posted on YouTube by the Paper Pixie and adapted it for my Children and Babies class.

While we were in class we chatted about how the fold could be further adapted for Christmas cards. My vision was of a decorated Christmas tree displayed on the popped out section. I actually did make a card featuring a Christmas tree, which I will showcase it in coming weeks, but I was also drawn to these Christmas lights papers.

card no.1:

Strings of twinkling lights at Christmas time is one of those long time memories for me and I wanted to reflect it on my cards.

I used the Adhesive-Backed Glimmer paper when creating my twinkling lights. It is just so easy to use, especially for attaching the very fine filament.

The ‘Oh, what fun!’ greeting seemed to be the perfect choice and those fabulous shiny iridescent discs have been finding their way onto so many of my cards this festive season.

card no.2:

I never wear read or pink but I love them as a colour combination. This bold strip was the obvious choice for my focal panel on my second card.

This pine needles die sits out on my craft table all the time as it is my most used this Christmas. I have been ‘sticking’ little boughs of pine needles on everything. It was my intention that the cascading boughs would resemble a Christmas tree with twinkling lights peeking out between the branches.

More iridescent discs and the same greeting add the finishing touches to my card.

I have really enjoyed moving away from the traditional Christmas colour schemes when creating my cards this year. These are two of my favourites. Hopefully they will look lovely on display in someone’s house this Christmas. The proof will be in the pudding I suppose. It will be interesting to see if these brightly coloured cards appeal to shoppers at the market next weekend.

Art With Heart Team | Heart of Christmas blog hop:

It’s now time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely and talented KateMorgan. I can’t wait to see what she’s made this week!

If at any time you find a broken link, please head back to the blog of Sharon Davern who is the host of the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. There you will find the list of all who are participating this week.

Enjoy the rest of the hop and thanks for stopping by tonight. I hope you are inspired to start your Christmas card making and I that you will visit again next Monday for more Christmas ideas and fun.

In the meantime, if you would like a copy of the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue and/or the September-December 2023 Mini Catalogue, please contact me and I will pop them in the post for you.

Michele.

Michele, your fairy light cards are fabulous! So bright and fun. Both cards are gorgeous with their non traditional colour palette, and I can definitely see the lights peeking out between the pine needles on card 2. Love them!

Oh what fun is the perfect sentiment for these wonderful cards, Michele. I love the fun, bright colours and those gorgeous lights with the silver glimmer are stunning.

  5. CHRISTINE BLAIN

“Oh, what fun!” perfectly describes your cards, Michele! The bright, twinkling, lights are gorgeous … and the silver glimmer paper is perfect for the detailed “bits”. I especially like your second card, and think you’ve nailed the look of lights in a Christmas tree. Just lovely.
