Heart of Christmas – Week 2 2023

Welcome to the 2023 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. Each Monday, through until mid December, we will be showcasing all the fabulous seasonal supplies that Stampin’ Up! have to offer. For the month of August we will working with Christmas products found in the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue and those on offer as an Online Exclusive.

my card:

This week’s card features the Trucking Along bundle which is an Online Exclusive. I love this little truck/ute as it brings back memories of riding around with my Pop in his ute when I was a child. He had named his ute Emma and every time he pulled to a stop he would call out, ‘Whoa Emma!’ Corny I know, but I thought it was hilarious when I was a kid and it still makes me smile now. Emma was a green FJ ute, not dissimilar in appearance to this cute little truck. You might just see Emma make an appearance in the weeks to come.

My favourite Christmas colour scheme has always been Real Red, Sahara Sand and Basic White, with a touch of gold or silver bling. Unfortunately Stampin’ Up! decided to retire the colour Sahara Sand when they completed the colour refresh earlier this year. So, after some inspiration from a friend, I am trying out substituting Crumb Cake for Sahara Sand. Let’s just say……it’s growing on me. The DSP is from the One Horse Open Sleigh 6 x 6″ paper pack, which is also available online.

My truck/ute was stamped and punched from white cardstock. I then punched three additional trucks from Real Red cardstock and glued them together to create a ‘chipboard’ piece. Although hard to see in the photo it does have lovely dimension.

The inspiration for my card was this sketch.

Each month I set a card making challenge for the ladies who attend my classes. This month it was a sketch challenge.

I included some gold sequins, a festive greeting and I also stamped the envelope to match as a final touch.

Enjoy the rest of the hop and thanks for stopping by tonight. I hope you are inspired to start your Christmas card making and I that you will visit again next Monday for more Christmas ideas and fun.

In the meantime, if you would like a copy of the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue, please contact me and I will pop one in the post for you.

I loved Sahara Sand too, Michele, but this is a great combo as well. The patterned paper you’ve chosen looks fab and this would be a great card to give a guy for Christmas. The extra dimension on the truck is a great idea.

  2. Kate Morgan

A lovely Christmas card, Michele. I actually took a breath and sighed, it is a lovely calming colour combination. Crumb Cake goes with everything, so I’m sure you’ll be okay and not miss Sahara Sand for long! I love your idea of creating a chipboard truck, layering up a few times, great idea!

  3. Theresa Gerrard

Michele I love your version of Emma the ute and I had a little chuckle imagining your pop pulling it up. Personally I prefer Crumb Cake to Sahara Sand and it looks perfect in your card.

  4. Catherine Proctor

Love the story of emma the ute and your Pop, Michele! I too miss Sahara Sand, however Crumb Cake is my fave colour and I’m sure it will continue to grow on you – it looks spectacular in your sketch challenge Christmas card.

  5. Andrea Sargent

A delightful Christmas card Michele. I love the trucking along bundle and see it fitting in well for an Aussie Christmas. The dimension of the red ute with layers of cardstock is great. I look forward to seeing Emma over the next couple of months. xxx

  6. Rosa Leyden

I love the Real Red and Crumb Cake colour combo which complements perfectly with your red truck Michele. Love the gold sequins for that added bling!

  7. Amie

Your truck is so cute! I love your choice of colours.

As soon as I saw your gorgeous card, I wanted to say “see, Michele, Crumb Cake looks GREAT with Real Red and white!”!! This is a long-held favourite colour combo of mine, especially for Christmas, and you have used it beautifully. Your dimensional truck looks great (and it’s stamped to perfection!). Love the story of Emma, and your special childhood memories. xx

  9. Rachel Woollard

What a wonderful emotional connection you’ve got to this set. Gorgeous card !
