Heart of Christmas – Week 3 2023

Welcome to the 2023 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. Each Monday, through until mid December, we will be showcasing all the fabulous seasonal supplies that Stampin’ Up! have to offer. For the month of August we will working with Christmas products found in the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue, those on offer as an Online Exclusive and once our preorders arrive……new products from the upcoming Sept-Dec 2023 Mini Catalogue. My cards today offer a sneak peek of a fabulous mega suite called Joy of Christmas. So let’s get started……

my cards:

The Joy of Christmas Suite Collection (available to purchase 6 Sept) consist of two stamp and die bundles, embellishments, ribbon, specialty paper and designer series paper. The colour palette includes the traditional Christmas colours of Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Old Olive and Shaded Spruce with Pecan Pie and Pebbled Path as the neutrals. The Joy of Noel bundle includes the gorgeous NOEL die that I used as the focal point on both my cards.

card no.1:

When creating my first card I was inspired by this sketch……

Using one of the specialty papers I diecut the NOEL. I also diecut it two additional times in Shaded Spruce so that I could layer the letters up to create dimension. I used the pine needle stamp (Christmas Classics bundle) and Old Olive and Shaded Spruce inks to stamp the corners of my focal panel. Before embossing it with the Timber EF, I used Old Olive ink and a blending brush to add another layer of colour to the corners. I also used a Crumb Cake marker to create a splatter.

This panel was then matted with a piece of DSP. It is hard to see but it is a Pecan Pie woodgrain pattern.

The finishing touch were some sequins. I absolutely love adhesive backed sequins and am so very happy that SU have added so many to it’s range of embellishments. No sticky fingers or globs of glue in the wrong place.

card no.2:

Ok……confession time. After I had finished card no.1 I headed off to do a few other things. Sometime later I sat back at my craft table and the NOEL frame caught my eye. It was in the bin as I had discarded it in the process of making my first card. Well, I fished it out of the bin and cut it down to fit inside a stitched square of Shaded Spruce, before adding another larger stitched square of DSP, some pine needle diecuts and some ribbon.

The card base is Shaded Spruce, the matts Real Red and DSP. I am totally in love with this check pattern from the Joy to Christmas paper pack. It comes in Real Red too. So festive!!!

The NOEL is diecut from a woodgrain gold foil specialty paper which is just one of four fabulous designs in the Joyful Specialty DSP pack. I also added small stamped images and gold pearls to the letters for some interest.

Michele, I just love what you have done with the NOEL die cut piece. I had some of those too, but I adore that you have stamped inside the letters, I hadn’t thought of that!!! I too am loving all the adhesive backed embellishments and you used them brilliantly on both cards.

  2. Rosa Leyden

Michele I love how you have used the die cut Noel letters and the negative to create your two cards. The embossed and stamped background on your first card is elegant and love the additional pearls and sequins.

  3. Catherine Proctor

The Timber embossing folder and the blending looks fantastic on your first card, Michelle, and I love the clever use of the NOEL frame on your second card. Both gorgeous cards!

  4. Amie

I love that your focal feature on the second card is a ‘discard’ from the first card!

  5. Andrea Sargent

Two gorgeous cards Michele. I love the built up Noel with pine stamped in opposite corners. I also adore the cut out NOEL – a great way to make the most of your die cut sentiment. The addition of some tiny foliage and pearls inside the individual letters is wonderful. Your layering and colours is gorgeous. xxx

  6. Rachel Woollard

Two fantastic cards using the negative and positive pieces of the Noel die, great idea. I love your interpretation of the card sketch with the foliage as the corner images.

  7. CHRISTINE BLAIN

I just love your cards, Michele! On your first card, the use of Old Olive is a great choice, as the yellow tones complement the gold die-cut letters. The embossed texture is gorgeous … and I am a big fan of self-adhesive sequins, too! Great save, with your second card. From remnants, you created a beauty! I love the stamped detail inside the negative spaces of the letters, and adore your choices of DSP.
