SAB – Lovely Lillies

It is funny how sometimes you can look at something and think, it’s nice but I don’t know whether it is for me. Then you see others using it, wearing it……etc. All of a sudden you see the possibilities……you are inspired. Well it was a bit like that for me with the Lovely Lily Pad stamp set, Lilly Pad dies and Lily Impressions DSP. To be honest the designer series paper overwhelmed me. It was a bit dark and too heavily patterned for my liking. But as they say……there is more than one way to skin a cat. I decided that less is more and white is your best friend when working with these papers.

All three products are Sale-A-Bration items which means that they are yours to choose for FREE when you spend either $90 (stamp set and DSP) or $180 (dies), on products in the 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue, January – June 2020 Mini Catalogue or Clearance Rack.

My cards:

When I sat down to create these cards I really didn’t know what I was going to do. I cut up some of the papers and diecut a few flowers and then just started playing. The first two cards feature the paper piecing technique. Although I haven’t scrapbooked in a while I have used paper piecing on scrapbook pages on numerous occasions. Why not try it on a card or two? It certainly was a way of toning down the dark patterned paper. I love the result almost as much as I love that pretty little edge die. It adds such a nice finish to a card. The Happy Day sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays and the birthday greeting on card two is from Bonanza Buddies.

My third card uses one of my favourite products from the mini catalogue – the Stitched So Sweetly dies. How gorgeous are those scalloped and stitched rectangles? I used a large one as the main panel and the smallest for my sentiment. I am sure that I will be reaching for these for a very long time.

As you can see I didn’t actually end up using the Lovely Lily Pad stamp set when creating these cards. I got a little carried away with the dies and patterned paper. You can see a card I made using the stamps and DSP here. The card was created for a team blog hop. It is worth hopping along to see what the other talented card makers created using Sale-A-Bration products.
