Stamping directly on Festive Farmhouse DSP

I have always been a B-side kind of girl. I have scrapbooked for years and have collected thousands of pieces of 12 x 12 paper. (Shhh!) Some of it is way too pretty to use. (Come on……admit it! We all know that feeling.) Often I gaze at all the prettiness before turning over the paper, only to find that the B-side is just the subtle design and colour that I was looking for. It was the same with the gorgeous Festive Farmhouse designer series paper. I love the traditional Christmas reds and greens but the subtle grey woodgrains are awesome. So awesome that I decided to stamp directly on to them when making my latest set of Christmas cards. I used stamps from both the Peaceful Noel and Mistletoe Season stamp sets. I am finding that these two sets complement each other perfectly, especially when stamping Christmas wreaths. On the square card I also used the Subtle embossing folder to add some texture to the silver foil mat. For the two standard sized cards I used Grey Granite cardstock for the base. It really is a lovely colour. It is a little warmer than Smokey Slate and teams so well with the more traditional reds and greens. I think it will be a ‘go-to’ colour for me in the future as it looks great with all of the Stampin’ Up! pink, purple and yellow ink colours.
