AWHT Colour Creations Showcase – Merry Merlot

Welcome to the Colour Creations Showcase……the 2020-2021 version. This weekly showcase is brought to you by the Stampin’ Up! Art With Heart Team, Australia.

Week 26: Merry Merlot

Merry Merlot is one of the colours in the Stampin’ Up! Neutrals collection…….and is a deep, rich burgundy. There are several Merry Merlot products available in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. These include Classic Stampin’ Pad, A4 Cardstock, Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill and the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Neutrals Assortment.

I actually love the colour Merry Merlot, although I admit that I hardly ever use it. Just over 37 years ago I wore a cream Prue Acton dress as my going away outfit. I teamed it with a Merry Merlot cummerbund, shoes and Glomesh handbag. 🙂

I still have all three in my wardrobe. The dress had a second wearing to a wedding a few months after mine, the 4 inch heals were never worn again (me and heals simply don’t mix) and the bag is still gorgeous and apparently on trend. So I might just have to dig it out again.

SNEAK PEEK ALERT!!!

My cards today features several products from the upcoming January-June 2021 Mini Catalogue. Items will be available to purchase from 5 January 2021.

Stampin’ Up! demonstrators who attended OnStage@Home were able to order some products early.

I chose to order from the Fine Art Floral suite collection. The suite includes a stamp set and coordinating dies (available as a bundle – 10% discount), designer speciality acetate, ribbon, an embossing folder and designer series paper. The DSP is gorgeous and features painted florals on one side and more muted patterns on the other.

card no. 1:

My first card features the B-Side of one of the beautiful designer series papers. I love this painterly design. I added some stamped and diecut flowers, a simple greeting, some rhinestones and a Night of Navy matt. Done!!!

I know I said it last week but, the font used for the sentiments in the Art Gallery stamp set is the BEST. I love a simple san serif font and when used in conjunction with the scripty ‘just want to say’ die……there are just so many combinations. Yes, the Floral Gallery dies that coordinate with this stamp set include a gorgeous scripty die, as well as, the dies to cut out the stamped floral images. So good!!!

card no. 2:

My second card features the A-Side of one of the ‘painted’ designs. It really is so gorgeous that it doesn’t require addition bits and pieces added to it, but I couldn’t help myself.

Using three different diecut pieces that I had lying around on my desk, I built up a sentiment grouping which I then added to the DSP panel.

A couple of Elegant Faceted Gems were added to either side of the sentiment, which had been stamped in Night of Navy ink.

I love trying to reproduce designs from the DSP in my stamped images. It is one of my favourite techniques and Stampin’ Up! really do make it easy with their Two-Step stamps.

Thanks for visiting but, there is so much more to see. Please hop back to Catherine’s blog where you will find links to all the other team members and their Merry Merlot creations.

If you would like to purchase any of the products that I used when creating this card, the links are included below (although, unfortunately, you will need to wait until 5 January to purchase items from the Fine Art Floral suite). If you would like a copy of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue and/or the August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue, please contact me and I will pop one in the post for you.

Alternatively, if you would like a copy of the upcoming January-June 2021 Mini Catalogue, I would be happy to mail one to you in December. Click on the image above to order your copy now.

Thanks Michele.

Oh, Wow! Your cards are soooo pretty! Your stamped flowers are spectacular, and I love the layering you’ve done with them.

  2. CHRISTINE BLAIN

Wow – how nice does Merry Merlot look with Flirty Flamingo, and touches of Night of Navy? Who knew?! I love the sentiment strip across your first card, Michele. I wasn’t sure how you were going to make that gorgeous paper work with Merry Merlot, but you’ve nailed it; stunning! Similarly, your second card is just gorgeous. Beautiful paper, beautiful bloom, and beautiful layering of stitched panels.

  3. Ros Davidson

Both cards are lovely but the second card is my absolute favourite. I love how it mimics the DSP.

  4. Kathryn Ruddick

What beautiful colour combinations – and what a lovely lead-in story! Oh! I remember cummerbunds! I wore a Magenta Madness one with a crisp white military style shirt dress to a dinner in Hobart in 1987!

  5. Rachel Woollard

Beautiful cards Michele, we both had the same thoughts, but quite different cards, love them!

  6. Theresa Gerrard

Ah glomesh bags. I can also remember having a glomesh purse!. Your cards are beautiful Michele but I especially love the second one. Just lovely

  7. Catherine Proctor

Both your cards are just stunning Michelle – that DSP is so beautiful and I love how you’ve reproduced it with your stamping. I’d really like to see a photo of your dress, heels and handbag too! Thanks for joining the Colour Creations Showcase tonight x
