Heart of Christmas | Trimming the Tree

Welcome to the 2022 edition of Heart of Christmas brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. This year, we will again be showcasing all the fabulous seasonal supplies that Stampin’ Up! have on offer, on a weekly basis and in the form of a Blog Hop.

my cards:

All of my cards today use a product from the Perfect Partners promotion for September – Trimming the Tree bundle.  But, you say, “What if I have already purchased the Trimming the Tree stamp set?” Never fear the Tree Trimming dies are available to purchase separately too, but only for the month of September. You can read more about the promotion and see the other five new sets of dies here.

I started by simply stamping up the tree in a variety of colours, on a variety of coloured cardstock. Some I then coloured with Stampin’ Blends, while others I used the detailed die to add texture to the tree. Once I had a few trees I was happy with, I began auditioning designer series paper to see what tree worked best, with the DSP I had cut and lying around my craft table.

I used a range of bits and bobs to finish off my cards but I do want to highlight the gorgeous basket that I used as a base for my trees on three of my cards. This die not only cuts out the basket, it also embosses it and it is fabulous. The other little thing of note are the lovely ornament dies in the set. I adhered adhesive sheet on the back of the red glimmer paper before die cutting the ornaments. This made them so easy to apply to my trees……no sticky fingers!!!

Here are my cards up close……

card no.1:

This card uses paper from the Sweetest Christmas collection. I also embossed the vellum using the one of the folders from the Wintry set. To highlight the Pool Party line in the paper I used Pool Party Stampin’ Blends to colour in the tree.

Card no.2:

This simple card was made with a piece of DSP from the Boughs of Holly pack. I love this paper. To create some interest I made a feature of the greeting by partially die cutting a strip of paper to match the edge on the label. To give the tree some dimension I diecut it from white cardstock two additional times and adhered them together so that the tree had some real substance about it.

card no.3:

This card uses all three of the tree dies in the set. As with the previous card I diecut the larger tree three times to give it dimension. The upper most layer also has been diecut with the detailed die to add texture and dimension. I also added a line of Soft Sea Foam trees for added perspective. These were punched out using the Evergreen Border punch.

card no.4:

My final card is another very simple one. The addition of the vellum rectangle just adds enough definition between the DSP and the tree. I actually stamped this tree in Garden Green on Basic White cardstock and then when I was playing around with it and the papers, I decided to colour it in using Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. The Old Olive picks up on the Old Olive in the paper.

So if you are like me and dislike fussy cutting intensely……this bundle may be an absolute blessing.

Art With Heart Team | Heart of Christmas blog hop:

It’s now time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely and talented Rosa Leyden. I can’t wait to see what she’s made this week!

Enjoy the rest of the hop and thanks for stopping by this week. I hope to see you back here next Monday, when the team will have more of their inspiration and wonderful creations to share with you.

Such a great array of cards, Michele! I love that you “auditioned” some DSP, in your design process. 🙂 My favourite is the green leafy paper, but I love how you’ve shown the versatility of the dies and stamp set, when used in different colourways and with very different papers. Great work. x

  2. Kate Morgan

These are all gorgeous cards, Michele. I love embossing vellum too, it adds such a great effect. I particularly like your final card, with that poinsettia paper in the background and the beautiful green bow!

  3. Catherine Proctor

All these cards are fabulous, Michele – I love how you’ve displayed the trees in four different ways! I think my fave is card three for the elegant monochrome greens, but they are all wonderful!

  4. Theresa Gerrard

Four beautiful cards Michele featuring those fabulous dies. It is so hard to chose a favourite but for me it is the third one. I think it is the monochromatic look

  5. Rosa Leyden

The Trimming the Trees bundle has been a clear favourite this week and no wonder as it is so versatile. A wonderful set of cards Michele where you have displayed the trees in many different ways. My favourite is the last card it is just so elegant!

  6. Andrea Sargent

Wow Michele, 4 cards!!! Love them all. I think no 4 is my favourite. The bright poinsettia DSP with the Vellum overlay shows the tree brilliantly. Love the little baubles. Xxx

  7. Caroline Manwaring

A lovely set of cards Michele. I’m particularly drawn to cards 1 & 4, and I think it’s because of the vellum layers. I love how the vellum adds such a soft look and feel.

  8. Tina Gillespie

Four fabulous cards, Michele! I adore how you’ve layered the sentiment label on the second card, and the red ornaments look amazing. Hooray for adhesive sheets!
