AWH Team Creative Showcase for February – Cards for the Special Man in Your Life

Welcome to the February edition ofĀ the Art With Heart Team Creative Showcase. This month we are featuring Masculine themed projects.

I have always found selecting a suitable card for a man hard. I am pleased to say that Stampin’ Up! does have a number of wonderful stamp sets that are perfect for the special men in your lives. Clubhouse is perfect for the golf tragics in your life, By the Dock and Sailing Home have a nautical/boating theme, Best Catch is for the man/boy who likes to fish, A Good Man has beautiful images and sentiments and Rooted in Nature is for the man who likes to spend time outdoors. There are others still, but these are a few of my favourites and the ones I turn to when I need to make a card for a male family member or friend.

I recently had a friend ask me to make a special card for her brother-in-law who would be turning 60 in early March. I quizzed her as to his interests and passions. No he doesn’t play golf or fish and he is not particularly fond of the sea or nature.

Head scratch moment. šŸ™‚

Never fear Stampin’ Up! also has other products that can be used to make the perfect masculine card……

My cards:

All three cards feature a wreath design stamped using a range of foliage from the Rooted in Nature stamp set. Using my Stamparatus to layer different colours onto a design is one of my favourite techniques. It gives a design so much depth. I find it quite remarkable the difference that it makes.

Both cards also include a matt of designer series paper from the Country Club set of designer series paper and a larger matt of cardstock, which had been embossed using the Pinewood Planks embossing folder.

I added a stitched circle to the middle, to which I adhered the number. The numerals were diecut using a now retired set of dies, however, any number of birthday greetings could be stamped onto the stitched circle instead. My colour scheme was taken straight from the designer series paper with the addition of a couple of neutrals in Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand.

Before attaching the numerals I gave my friend the choice of card combinations. Which one do you think she chose? Funny thing!!! It was my favourite too. She obviously has very good taste. šŸ˜‰

Michele, you never cease to amaze me with your wreath cards, totally inspiring. My favourite is the 70th with the two leaf styles stamped around!

  7. Tina Gillespie

You do wreath cards so well! I love them all, but my favourite is the middle one. The DSP on that one looks like a checked shirt my hubby wears <3

Michelle I love your square cards and these are great – so many variations you could make using this clean and simple theme for masculine cards xx
