AWHT Colour Creations Blog Hop | Week 17 – Flirty Flamingo

Welcome to the Art With Heart Team, Colour Creations Blog Hop, for 2021-2022. Each week members of the team will showcase a current colour (in alphabetical order) from the extensive Stampin’ Up! range.

Week 17: Flirty Flamingo

You will find a number of products in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue that feature Flirty Flamingo including – Classic Stampin’ Pad, cardstock, ink refill, Stampin’ Blends, Brights Designer Series Paper pack, Brights Stampin’ Write Markers, Watercolour Pencils Assortment 2, Metallic Ribbon, From My Heart Faceted Gems and Sequins For Everything.

But my favourite product to feature the colour Flirty Flamingo is……

I am totally besotted with this paper and only have a few pieces left.

My cards:

Two cards!!! Not bad for a person who really is NOT a fan of the colour pink in any shade. 🙂

card no. 1:

My first card uses the Hand-Penned Petals bundle. This bundle is just so lovely and I have used it to make lots and lots of cards. I hold card making classes in my home once a month and prior to the current restrictions coming into effect, this was the bundle that I was going to use for the August class. Luckily it can be found in the Annual Catalogue so we may still get to use it, at a later date.

I love it when a bundle does all the work for you. It really is just so easy to make the sweet diecut pieces to use on your cards. Here I attached mine to a piece of the Beautifully Penned DSP that I coloured using blending brushes. The Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo inks blended together beautifully. I just love the effect.

I added some Petal Pink Organdy Ribbon and some Matte Black Dots and this pretty card was finished. I also stamped the inside panel and envelope to match.

card no. 2:

My second card is a CASE of one created by Jennifer McGuire. You can see the her tutorial HERE.

I had never done partial die cutting before so was keen to try it. I did made mistakes along the way but was able to cover most of them.

It is a pretty card design and the star dies from the Christmas Trimmings set of dies were perfect for this technique.

I certainly would try it again but need to rummage through my stash to find other symmetrical dies with which the technique would work.

The card looks so pretty both inside and out.

Two terrific cards Michele. Flirty Flamingo and Petal Pink really do look lovely together, and I have to say that I really like the Flirty Flamingo card base. Your second card is very pretty in non-traditional Christmas colours and well done on your first attempt at partial die cutting. I’m going to give this a try myself.

  2. Theresa Gerrard

Considering you’re not a fan of the colour you’ve done lovely job on both cards. I especially love the hand penned one

  3. Tina Gillespie

Your cards are so wonderful! The floral card is very sweet, and I love that the star can be seen from both the front and inside of the second card. I will have to look at the tutorial!

  4. Rachel Palmieri

Two wonderful cards Michele, love them both. The blending on the floral card is a very sweet touch, and the partial die cut looks to be a challenge worth trying out.

  5. Claire Daly

Adorable projects! I love the ink blending and the beautiful envelope on your first card, and the second card is perfect for Christmas. The partial die cutting is amazing with that design.

  6. Ros Davidson

Two great cards, I love your partial die cutting card.

  7. Kate Morgan

Ooh, I love your Hand-Penned card with the blending of colour on the patterned background. For someone who doesn’t love pink, you have made gorgeous cards!

  8. Catherine Proctor

Michele, you certainly have done a great job with Flirty Flamingo for someone who doesn’t like pink! Both cards are stunning – I love the blending on the first card and the clean and simple design of your second card too. I want to try this partial die cutting and you’ve inspired me to give it a go this weekend.

  9. CHRISTINE BLAIN

Both cards are beautiful, Michele! This is a strong pink for a non-pink-lover to work with, and you have aced the challenge. I love the ink blending on the DSP behind that beautiful floral spray on your first card. Everything about that card is so pretty. On your Christmas card, I love the inclusion of the Be Dazzling paper; it goes so nicely with Flirty Flamingo. Clever technique employed on that card, too … you needn’t have mentioned you made mistakes, as we’d never know!
