Heart of Christmas Blog Hop – Week 15

Welcome to Week 15 of the Heart of Christmas 2019 Blog Hop. This week is the penultimate hop for 2019. It has been great contributing to the bog hop and even better seeing all the other wonderful cards and Christmas projects made by the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. I have found the blog hop very inspiring and I hope you have too. Today, I have the pleasure of hosting the hop. At the bottom of my post you will find the names of all the other team members who are contributing to this week’s blog hop. Please take the time to visit each blog. You won’t be disappointed!!!

And now for my cards for this week. In late October Stampin’ Up! had a 24 hour 15% off sale for selected stamp sets. I had admired First Frost when it first appeared in the 2018 Occasions catalogue and was pleased to see it carry over into the 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue. However, with so many delightful new Christmas stamp sets in the 2019 Holiday Catalogue……well my crafting dollar can only go so far. But who can resist a bargain and so this stamp set finally found its way into my craft room. Long story short…..I have no will power when it comes to sales and stamp sets!!!

Card No. One – A Wreath Design

Of course, the size of the images appeals to me, because as you know I love a wreath design. The smaller flower and bud are perfect for wreath stamping. Not only did I use my trusty Stamparatus to stamp out the wreath, I also used it to add depth of colour to each image. The flowers were firstly stamped using Real Red. I then stamped them again with Cherry Cobbler that I applied to the edges of the stamp with a sponge dauber. I did the same with the bud. Initially it was stamped with Old Olive and then Shaded Spruce. The Stamparatus is essential for this type of double stamping. I used the lovely Christmas greeting from the stamp set. This was matted on a scalloped circle of Old Olive before being attached using dimensionals. The finished panel was then matted with a piece of Cherry Cobbler DSP and adhered to a Cherry Cobbler square card.

Card No. Two – Stamp and Rotate

I also used my Stamparatus when stamping the front panel for my second card but this time I used the stamp and rotate method. Firstly, I placed the Whisper White panel in the corner of my Stamparatus before positioning and stamping the first image. I then rotated the panel 90 degrees and stamped again and  continued this with other images and colours until I had a design with which I was happy. Hint: the matted sentiment in the middle covers all the messy bits :). This time I mounted the finished panel with a piece of Shaded Spruce DSP before adhering it all to a Sahara Sand square card.

Product Spotlight

How great are the 6in x 6in Designer Series Paper Packs that are available in each of the colour collections? I used pieces of paper from both the Neutrals and Regals packs for my cards today but find myself reaching for them a lot of the time. They work so well on Christmas cards. There are 40 sheets in each pack – 2 each of 2 double-sided designs in 10 different colours. I am a real fan of the stitched diamond and check patterns. If only they weren’t on the same piece of paper? 🙁 You really do need these in your stamping and crafting arsenal.

Now, it is time to put your feet up and hop along to see more amazing cards and lots of inspiration from the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. Enjoy!!!

I agree, I love the colour DSP patterns, but my favourites are the same as yours – dilemma!!! Your cards are lovely, and look so different with the two stamping methods. I love the second card, and will have to give that a try!

I love your two cards Michele. Like you, I do like wreaths, the First Frost stamps and using the stamparatus for double stamping to get colour affect.
