AWHT Colour Creations Blog Hop | Week 10 – Cherry Cobbler

Welcome to the Art With Heart Team, Colour Creations Blog Hop, for 2021-2022. Each week members of the team will showcase a current colour (in alphabetical order) from the extensive Stampin’ Up! range.

Week 10: Cherry Cobbler

You will find a number of products in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue that feature Cherry Cobbler including – Classic Stampin’ Pad, cardstock, ink refill, Stampin’ Blends, Regals Designer Series Paper pack, Regals Stampin’ Write Marker, Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2, Tidings of Christmas DSP and Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

However, because Cherry Cobbler is a lovely rich red, it is often used in Christmas collections and therefore features quite heavily in the NEW July-December 2021 Mini Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration brochure.

But, my favourite products to feature the colour Cherry Cobbler are……

And……I used some of the papers from the Sweet Stockings DSP when creating my cards. I must say that I am not the biggest fan of cutesy but I know a few animal lovers who will absolutely love the Sweet Stockings DSP. What I really appreciate this year is, that all the very ‘cute’ papers feature subtle, very useable patterns on the B-Sides. Well done Stampin’ Up! 🙂

My cards:

My two cards use a new bundle that can be found on page 43 of the July-December 2021 Mini Catalogue. The bundle is called Merriest Moments and it includes a stamp set, coordinating dies and a Hybrid embossing folder. I am loving this new innovation in embossing folders. This is the third one that Stampin’ Up! have produced and it is gorgeous.

card no.1:

The smaller stylised poinsettia in the Merriest Moments stamp set is perfect for wreath designs. After stamping the poinsettias on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock, I created a mask and applied it to each poinsettia, before stamping the leaf. The dots were stamped in Bumblebee and I added a few Cherry Cobbler rhinestones before matting my design with Pear Pizzazz cardstock and the DSP. I did sponge the edges of the DSP with Cherry Cobbler so that there were no visible white edges.

I love that the leaf looks like it is tucked in behind the floral. masking is a favourite technique of mine.

card no.2:

For my second card I used the embossing folder to create lovely texture on my white panel. The glorious greeting was stamped and diecut before being matted with gold. It was adhered to the card with dimensionals. I then stamped and diecut the poinsettias and leaves and arranged them around and under the greeting panel. I added a few gold holly leaves and small gilded gems were placed in the centre of each poinsettia.

It really is easy to create lovely cards with wonderful bundles like Merriest Moments.

card no.3:

As I said above, I am not the biggest fan of cutesy, but I really do love the Sweet Stockings DSP and wanted to challenge myself to use not just the B-Sides. Another thing that I am not a fan of is fussy cutting. In fact, I don’t fussy cut EVER, but I wanted to use the sweet pups featured in the papers. Enter the Picture This dies……

I used the die to cut windows in this gorgeous piece of DSP and then simply backed each window with a different pup. The completed panel was then matted with another patterned paper from the series before being adhered to a white card base. The greeting is from the Christmas to Remember stamp set and of course there needed to be some Cherry Cobbler rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestones Basic Jewels.

I am actually very pleased with the result. It is cute rather that cutesy. What do you think?

Three lovely Cherry Cobbler cards Michele. Probably no surprise that my favourite is your second card with all that white! But honestly your SITR card is gorgeous, as are all your SITR projects. And I do love cute Christmas cards, and card 3 is one of those.

  2. Kate Morgan

I love your first SITR card, then I see your next card with the poinsettias and that white embossed panel, gorgeous. Then you nail it with those cute puppies peeking through the circles! All wonderful cards, Michele.

  3. Rosa Leyden

Michele you are certainly the queen of stamping in the round and thosr leaves blend in nicely with the poinsettias. Love the layering of leaves in your second card and adore the cute doggies in your last card

Oh, wow, three fabulous cards! The first two are stunners – the flowers look amazing. I adore the last card – not too cutesy at all!

  8. Catherine Proctor

Wow Michelle, you’ve been so busy and all your cards are amazing! I’m not normally a “cutesy” cardmaker either, but I love your Sweet stockings card – that fussy cutting was definitely worth it!!!

  9. CHRISTINE BLAIN

Wow – look at you, excelling at showcasing Cherry Cobbler! Beautiful, beautiful cards, Michele. The poinsettias make a gorgeous wreath, using your expert method. I love the white background embossed on the second card, and the third card is just too cute (coming from another who doesn’t normally do “cutesy”)!
