Welcome to the Colour Creations Showcase……the 2020-2021 version. This weekly showcase is brought to you by the Stampin’ Up! Art With Heart Team, Australia.
Week 21: Highland Heather
Highland Heather is one of the colours in the Stampin’ Up! Subtle collection…….and is a lovely soft mauve. There are several Highland Heather products available in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. These include Classic Stampin’ Pad, A4 Cardstock, Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill, Stampin’ Blends, Tricolor Ribbon and the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Subtles Assortment.
Highland Heather also features in the Gorgeous Posies Project Kit, which can be found on page 8 of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. This ‘gorgeous’ kit makes 16 cards when teamed with the Gorgeous Posies stamp set which, can also be found on page 8. Kits make the perfect gift for that crafty friend or are a wonderful way to dip your toe into the world of card making, as all the hard work has been done for you. Of course, you can buy it simply because it is stunning and you really need it in your stash of crafty goodness!!! 🙂
Both the Feels Like Frost and Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper packs feature Highland Heather. Feels Like Frost is a returning fave and can be found in the August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue.
The Snowflake Splendor DSP is just a small part of the suite of the same name. It features snowflakes (stamps, dies and embossing folder), gorgeous Balmy Blue glimmer paper, sparkly faceted gems, iridescent ribbon and a dreamy colour palette.
my cards:
I have a confession to make. I am not a fan of snowflakes at Christmas and while I have always harboured a dream of spending one Christmas in the snow, it just doesn’t jell with Christmases spent in rural Victoria where it was so hot we could have cooked the roast in the sun. However, in my rush to put in an order very late one night, I inadvertently typed in the wrong code and voila……the Snowflake Splendor DSP arrived in my BBB by mistake. And, I must say that it is very pretty and some of the B-sides are very versatile and could be used for a range of occasions. I am still not completely convinced about the snowflakes, but never the less……I used it on both my cards today.
card no. 1:
I created a wreath!!!
The Peace & Joy bundle is my absolute favourite. I used the small ‘star burst’ image to create my wreath. I added some dots using Balmy Blue and a stamp from the Dressed to Impress stamp set. In the centre of each ‘star burst’ I adhered one of the gorgeous iridescent gems from the Snowflake Splendor Suite which can be found on pages 36 to 38 of the August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue. They are stunning and a must have. As is the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper from which I die cut the word Joy. It is so gorgeous and sparkly but doesn’t leave glitter all over everything, including your face. 🙂
card no. 2:
My second card features not only the Peace & Joy bundle but bits and pieces from the Poinsettia Place Suite as well. I just love the way ‘this goes with that’ in the Stampin’ Up! range of products.
Thanks for visiting but, there is so much more to see. Please hop back to Catherine’s blog where you will find links to all the other team members and their Highland Heather creations.

Your blue/purple Christmas cards are lovely!
Michele, I love your very soft and pretty colour palette. We haven’t seen a wreath card from you in a while, and your ‘joy’ card is just lovely. My pick for a favourite though, would have to be your second card with all the gorgeous poinsettia elements and the added softness from the vellum layer.
Totally agree with you about the snow themed Christmases, but I actually adore this paper – I think it’s the colours that got me, over the snow theme. You’ve done a lovely job with your creativity to use the B sides of the paper!
Beautiful cards Michele, I love Highland Heather with Balmy Blue. Lovely Christmas cards!
Lovely cards, Michele and a favourite colour combo. Your wreath of stars is very clever and the vellum on the second card softens the background of ‘Christmas stars’ (aka snowflakes!)
This is what I call a “Happy Accident”. You accidently ordered the paper, but instead of getting all put out and annoyed at it, you have embraced it and created a gorgeous card. Go you!!
I’m not a fan of snowflakes for Christmas either, Michele … but I love what you have created! I had a laugh at how the papers accidentally made their way to your house. You’ve used them so well. Nice “mix and matching” of Christmas products. Your cards are always put togther so beautifully.
For someone who is not a big fan of snow flakes you’ve used this paper so well Michelle! Both your cards are simply stunning. Thank you for inspiring us all with your Highland Heather cards.
