Heart of Christmas | Gingerbread & Peppermint Ornaments

Welcome to the 2021 edition of Heart of Christmas brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. This year, we will be showcasing all the fabulous seasonal supplies that Stampin’ Up! have on offer, on a weekly basis and in the form of a Blog Hop.

Sneak Peek Alert!

Week 4 of the Blog Hop and I have some cards to share with you that use new products from the upcoming……

You will be able to purchase products found in this catalogue from Tuesday 3 August. Hopefully, our blog hop will assist you when making your wishlist. If you are like me, you will need to check it more than twice!!! 🙂

how it started:

Recently, one cold wet afternoon, I spent way too much time paper-piecing these little baubles. I started by diecutting ornaments in basic white, Old Olive and Real Red. It was only when I began piecing the ornaments back together (and had very, very sticky fingers) that I realised that it would have been so much better to use adhesive sheets. With that in mind, I cut additional ornaments from basic white, Real Red and gold and let me tell you……it was much easier when the cardstock was backed with adhesive sheet.

Now, what to do with them?

card no.1:

After making a number of cards using the Gingerbread & Peppermint DSP I had lots of paper strips left over. So, why not put them to good use?

I wanted to highlight the bauble so I adhered it to one of the Tailor Made Tags with dimensionals, which in turn, was also adhered to the card with dimensionals. I love the two shadow lines that this created and feel it really added to the effect of the card overall. Did you notice the gorgeous lace die from the Gingerbread set of dies? Love it!

card no.2:

When you are on a good thing……stick to it!

I do love a diagonal stripe. I also used the lace die again. It really is quite special.

card no.3:

Then, I was thinking, ornaments really do belong on a Christmas tree. So, with that in mind, I used the fabulous Christmas Pinecones dies to create my background of pine needles, before attaching my ornaments with dimensionals.

These larger  background dies are extremely different and very versatile and I can see myself using them in a variety of ways in the coming months.

Your paper pieced ornaments looks lovely and I think the three cards you have created with them are stunning. The adhesive sheets do really make everything easier. I’d be lost without my stash of them.

  2. Caroline Manwaring

What a wonderful way to spend a cold, wet Winters day. Beautiful creations, each one of them. Gorgeous festive projects.

  3. Theresa Gerrard

Lovely cards Michele and love the idea of using the die to mimic a tree. Great thinking

  4. Kate Morgan

Oh wow, Michele, lots of gorgeous cards this week & I love them all. The way you use those tag dies amazes me every time and I think I am going to have to add them to my next order. The fancy lace border die is super pretty in the red, but then you put the ornaments in the tree setting and I love it!

  5. Sharon Davern

Oh I love the work you have put into these card and the baubles look fantastic! Not a bad way to spend a yucky weather day! I love all the different layouts you have done too and the different choices you made for the backgrounds. Great set of card!

  6. Rachel Woollard

Your cookies look good enough to eat Michele, beautiful cards!

  7. CHRISTINE BLAIN

Ah, I laughed (knowingly) about the sticky finger dilemma, Michele! About 90% of the time, I forget to use adhesive sheets! You have created three brilliant cards; all that piecing of “bits” was well worth it. I especially love your first card. 🙂

  8. Tina Gillespei

Your cards are fabulous!! I love the paper strips on the background, and the pieced ornaments are fantastic! I love how you’ve created a tree for them. Super cute!

  9. Rosa Leyden

What beautiful cards Michele and a superb job with piecing the bits of paper. Love how you used your scraps in the first card and yes totally love the lace die! That background on the third card looks just amazing with such depth that the two green card stock colours provide.

  10. Catherine Proctor

Michele at first glance I thought you had photographed iced and decorated sugar cookies – Love these ornaments, they have so much dimension! My fave card is the last one – those Christmas pine tree branches!
