Heart of Christmas | Love, Santa Tag Kit Alternative Card Ideas

Welcome to the 2021 edition of Heart of Christmas brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. This year, we will be showcasing all the fabulous seasonal supplies that Stampin’ Up! have on offer, on a weekly basis and in the form of a Blog Hop.

This week I have decided to showcase the Love, Santa Tag Kit. This is the first kit from the Stampin’ Up! collection that I have actually played with and I love it. My aim was to demonstrate just how versatile the kit is. While the kits are perfect for the beginner card maker, would make fabulous gifts and are all inclusive, I wanted to show the more experienced avid crafter, just how easy it is to extend and build on them, by creating several alternatives.

To begin with I made the tags up exactly as intended by following the very clear instruction sheet.

These tags are gorgeous and I will be using them with the coordinating Treat Bags, this Christmas, as I always like to gift family members a bag or box of traditional family biscuits, etc.

Then……I started to play!!!

card no.1:

……features a background created with the Love, Santa stamp.

I then added a matt of Night of Navy DSP and Wink of Stella to Santa’s belt buckle, cheeks and hat.

card no.2:

……was inspired by Mikaela at the Crafty Oink Pen. She is a lovely UK demo. Mikaela’s card was created with her favourite Christmas song in mind, Fairytale of New York and featured her present laden taxi rushing through the streets of New York. You can see Mikaela’s card here.

For my card I used my favourite ‘night sky’ paper as the background before adding my tree and some additional presents.

card no.3:

……has a surprise inside. I have created a pop-up Christmas tree using the tag.

The front of the card features the MERRY stamp which I have stamped repeatedly using most of the colours featured in the kit. I did substitute the Just Jade with Soft Succulent because I wanted a slightly softer shade of green.

I added some gems to the tree to make it sparkle.

card no. 4:

……builds on the tag by adding additional foliage and label of a similar shape.

I am absolutely loving the Pinecones die set. I find myself adding the diecut pine needles to everything.

I did stamp the greeting in Polished Pink and added some Polished Pink gems so that there was a tie back with the pink and white twine.

Card no. 5:

……demonstrates that even once the consumables have been used the stamp set and Stampin’ spot can be used again and again. I particularly love how this little stamp set coordinates so well with other Christmas products in the Stampin’ Up! range.

Here I have used a piece of designer series paper from the Tidings of Christmas paper pack as my focal matt.

The greeting is from the kit’s stamp set. The larger Merry was diecut using one of the smaller Tailor Made Tags dies and the word Christmas was nestled into the space created by the tag and the stamped foliage.

The thing that I like most about the tags in this kit is their size. Not only are they the perfect size to attach to your gifts, they also work brilliantly on the front of a standard card base, making the kit ever so versatile for the creative card maker. I certainly hope I have inspired you to look at this kit and others in the Kit Collection, with new and creative eyes. I did create a short video which introduces the kit and shows the cards I created in greater detail. The link to my YouTube channel can be found in the sidebar.
