Welcome to the Art With Heart Team’s Colour Creations Blog Hop for 2022-2023. Each week members of the team will showcase a colour from the extensive Stampin’ Up! range. This year we are starting with the fabulous NEW 2022-2024 In Colors.
Week 3: Starry Sky
This gorgeous colour is hard to describe. Is it purple with an undertone of dark midnight blue or is it a purplish inky blue? Whatever it is……I like it and feel that it will make a great “neutral” when stamping sentiments or when used as a fine matt for a focal panel.
Being an In Color you will find a number of products in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue that feature Starry Sky.
But my favourite product to feature the colour Starry Sky is……
This gorgeous paper reminds me of a photogram. During my time at teacher’s college we played with this technique during photography class and I really enjoyed it and loved the result.
“A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. The usual result is a negative shadow image that shows variations in tone that depends upon the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed for a shorter time or through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey, while fully exposed areas are black in the final print. The technique is sometimes called cameraless photography.” Wikipedia
(Stampin’ Up! describes the paper as ‘cyanotype’ like, which I believe is a similar technique to photogram but uses a different colour spectrum and chemicals.) However it was created, I love the effect and the B-sides are just fabulous too.
My projects:
card no.1:
My first card features another wreath design using the stamps from Sending Smiles. The greeting which is from Cup of Tea was diecut using the new Stylish Shapes dies.
After applying Wink of Stella to each flower I added a gem to the middle. You can see my previous In Color wreath designs here and here.
card no. 2:
When creating my second card I wanted to replicate the Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party cup from the DSP. The greeting can be found in the Flowering Tulips stamp set. How cute are the small teabag tags?
As a finishing touch a added a few 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots.
card no.3:
My final card was another one in the series I created for my launch as a ‘make & take.’
The greeting is from Sending Smiles and the card base is from the Tea Boutique Cards & Envelopes set.

They are all beautiful and cheerful cards Michele and show the versatility of the stamps and dies in this set. I love them all and I’m a DSP admirer but I’m leaning slightly to your last card.
Another lovely bundle of cards, Michele. I adore your SITR card, and the others using the tea cups are great too, especially the 2nd one, replicating the DSP.
Such a lovely set of cards Michele and as always you really do the wreath cards beautifully. Using the Tea Boutique cards has also created a lovely card.
Lovely cards and you have been busy as always. I love how you have used the tiny bit of the lemon wedge on the third card!
The third card is my favourite! Wish I was closer to come and do a make and take 🙂 That little tea bag…how cute! I had to go back to my stamp set and check it out, how did I miss that gorgeous little stamp in there. Oh well, I can play with this set for longer now!
What a creat collection of cards, Michelle – you have been busy! I think my favourite design feature is the way you’ve picked up on the colours of the DSP in card 2 and combined Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party in the tea cup.
Three great cards that showcase Starry Sky beautifully, Michele. The first card is my favourite; it’s a signature “Michele” card, with its wreath design!
Your cards are all so lovely! I especially love the tea cup card with the adorable little tea bag tag having over the side of the cup. So sweet!
Lovely cards Michele, I especially love the second card, with the large teacups highlighting the smaller teacups.
