Heart of Christmas – Week 15 2023

Welcome to the 2023 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. Each Monday, through until mid December, we will be showcasing all the fabulous seasonal supplies that Stampin’ Up! have to offer. This year we will be working with Christmas products found in the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue, those on offer as an Online Exclusive and new products from the Sept-Dec 2023 Mini Catalogue.

my card:

I am again showcasing the Merry Bold & Bright designer series paper this week. My mission this festive season has been to make cards more reflective of a Summer Christmas. Funny thing is that my 89 years old mother, who has every card I have ever made for her in a draw, asked to see what Christmas cards I had been creating. After carefully perusing each design she politely asked, “What other Christmas cards have you made this year?” Hahaha!!! Obviously my bright and bold cards are not to her taste. On the other hand at the market I attended yesterday, the majority of Christmas cards that I sold were from my ‘Summer’ range.

My November classes feature this DSP and after preparing the card kits I had a pile of strips left sitting on my craft table. So, I used them to create this background.

After die cutting the tree from a piece of Basic White cardstock I noticed a few ‘scars’ from my die cutting plates. Easily fixed!!! Using the Exposed Brick embossing folder I added some lovely texture and interest while also covering any imperfections.

The glittering garlands and star where diecut from gold glimmer paper. This fabulous paper is self adhesive and doesn’t leave you looking like you are about to hit the dance floor at an 80s disco. Come on!!! Who hasn’t wondered why the shop assistant was looking at you all weird, only to arrive home and find that your face is covered in glitter?

The simple greeting uses stamps from the Merry & Bright stamp set. After stamping out the words I ‘fussy cut’ them. Hahaha!!! Straight lines……my kind of fussy cutting.

This greeting takes me back to my childhood when I would punch labels using my Dymo and the black tape. I was in heaven when they introduced coloured tapes. I still have a Dymo label maker, though sadly not my original.

Art With Heart Team | Heart of Christmas blog hop:

It’s now time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely and talented Caroline Manwaring. I can’t wait to see what she’s made this week!

If at any time you find a broken link, please head back to the blog of Sharon Davern who is the host of the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. There you will find the list of all who are participating this week.

Enjoy the rest of the hop and thanks for stopping by tonight. I hope you are inspired to start your Christmas card making and I that you will visit again next Monday for more Christmas ideas and fun.

In the meantime, if you would like a copy of the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue and/or the September-December 2023 Mini Catalogue, please contact me and I will pop them in the post for you.

Michele.

Another fun and bright card, Michele. I’m really loving these bright colourful cards.

  2. Kathryn's Stampin' World

What a great way to use up strips of designer series paper and putting them together as a Christmas tree with a little glitter makes them pop, especially with the bright colours. Just makes you smile.

  3. Kate Morgan

This is brilliant, Michele, such a fantastic card for using up those bright strips of patterned papers, love it!

  4. Rosa Leyden

Oh what a fun card Michele. Love the colourful tree you’ve created by using the die cutout on the embossed layer. Very cute!

  5. CHRISTINE BLAIN

Oh my goodness – what a delightful, patchwork-looking, tree! I think this might be my favourite yet of your bright cards, Michele (even if your Mum’s not sold). Love the idea of embossing the background to disguise unwanted lines from die-cutting plates, and I laughed at your description of “fussy cutting”. Gorgeous, fun, card. 🙂

  6. Rachel Woollard

What a funky Christmas card Michele, great way to use up scraps too!
