AWH Team Creative Showcase for April – Mother’s Day

Welcome to the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team Monthly Creative Showcase.

The theme for this month’s showcase is Mother’s Day. Under the current conditions Mother’s Day this year is going to be completely different to any other Mother’s Day celebrations we have experienced, so the sending of a handmade card is going to have special significance.

my cards:

I loved creating this set of cards. The Ornate Garden DSP is just so beautiful. It really resonates with me. I do think it is because of it’s vintage style and the feeling of nostalgia it invokes in me.

“Nostalgia is a sentimentality for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations.”

And it certainly does bring back happy memories of long hot summer days in Wangaratta, where my Nanna would collect the fresh veg from the garden and place it in the large pocket of her pinnie. She wore an apron everyday, unless she was ‘having company’ or ‘getting dolled up’ to go out. They were made of fabrics very similar in design to the florals in the Ornate Garden DSP.

All four cards feature the yellow tone florals from the collection. I have teamed the florals with the neutral tones of Crumb Cake and Early Expresso cardstock. And of course there had to be at least one square card featuring a wreath design. 🙂

Note:

To make the centre of the daisy on card 4 I used the small dots stamp from the SAB stamp set Happy Birthday to You. It was perfect for tying back my punched daisy to the daisies in the DSP, which all have a yellow centre featuring a small cluster of brown dots. I then sprayed the centre with glimmer mist before attaching it with a dimensional. I do love to use stamps in unexpected ways and little filler stamps like this are perfect for adding those extra little touches/texture.

2020-2021 Early Release:

The Ornate Garden suite is an early release from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. The suite consists or two stamp and die bundles, designer series paper, ribbon, gilded gems and an embossing folder. It is perfect for occasions such as Mother’s Day and it is available NOW!!!
