Welcome to the Art With Heart Team, Colour Creations Blog Hop, for 2021-2022. Each week members of the team will showcase a current colour (in alphabetical order) from the extensive Stampin’ Up! range.
Week 21: Gray Granite
You will find a number of products in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue and July to December 2021 Mini Catalogue that feature Gray Granite including – Classic Stampin’ Pad, cardstock, ink refill, Stampin’ Blends, Neutrals Designer Series Paper pack, Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers, Shimmer Ribbon, Christmas Whimsy Kit and the In Good Taste designer series paper.
But my favourite product to feature the colour Gray Granite is……
I love both sides of this paper as not only are the foliage images and patterns gorgeous, the B-sides include fantastic neutrals that work perfectly with anything.
Gray Granite is actually my favourite of the gray tones in the Stampin’ Up! range as it has a brownish tinge to it and is therefore a warmer colour than Smoky Slate, which is very much a cool gray. I use it quite often but was really stuck for ideas this time. It actually took me back to my late teens, early 20s when I was at college and I would only begin working on my essay the day before it was due. This meant for some very long nights or getting down on bended knee and pleading my case for an extension. As an extension was out of the question I did what we all do……turned to the internet for inspiration and luckily found the Global Design Project #314 | Sketch Challenge.
Sketches are a fabulous resource when you are lacking inspiration and this one really appealed to me.
So with the sketch in mind and a handful of supplies it was down to work, although thankfully, it didn’t take all night.
My card:
I used the Candy Cane background stamp to create my focal piece. The little diecut candy canes come from the Sweet Little Stockings bundle, the twine is from the Love, Santa Tag kit and the greeting is a favourite and it is from the Painted Christmas suite.
Gray Granite and Polished Pink are a match made in heaven. People who know me will laugh when I tell you that this was the colour scheme for our wedding party, although to be truthful, the pink was probably more Magenta Madness than Polished Pink. It was the early 80s……what more can I say?! Big hair, shoulder pads……you know the drill!
The DSP comes from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ paper pack. These little packs are perfect to have in your stash as they are just so handy when you need the ‘right’ colour.

I really, really like the pops of Polished Pink on your Gray Granite card Michele.
I’m loving the bright pops of Polished Pink – wow – gorgeous with those sweet candy canes. Hehe, your wedding would have been fabulous, love it!
Really love that candy cane circle you have created as the focal point. Looks great!
The grey and pink look fabulous together – no wonder you chose it for your wedding! I love how you’ve sponged around the edge of the candy cane panel, and the extras under the sentiment are super cute!
Now I’m dying to see wedding photos, Michele!! I wouldn’t have thought to pair pink with Gray Granite, because of its brown undertones, but it works beautifully. I love the texture, the patterned paper, and all those little candy canes. This is a very sweet (pardon the pun) card!
Michelle, I agree re this colour combo and it is a match made in heaven on your stunning card. PS my “going away” outfit for my wedding (does anyone have these anymore?) was Polished Pink with black, LOL!
Stunning card Michele, I love the pink with GG for a very funky Christmas card
