Heart of Christmas – Week 6 2023

Welcome to the 2023 Heart of Christmas Blog Hop brought to you by the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. Each Monday, through until mid December, we will be showcasing all the fabulous seasonal supplies that Stampin’ Up! have to offer. This year we will be working with Christmas products found in the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue, those on offer as an Online Exclusive and new products from the Sept-Dec 2023 Mini Catalogue.

my card:

Well I actually created four cards for today’s blog hop, although they are really just different colour combinations of the same card. This is the first card that I made……

There are number of things I love in the new mini catalogue but the Joy To You stamp set is definitely my favourite and that it why I am featuring it again this week. You can see last week’s post here.

To be honest I had no idea what I was going to make, so I just cut some Basic White cardstock and started playing around with this lovely big greeting. The front of the card came together quite quickly in the end, when it finally dawned on me that I could use the same colours as in this lovely stripe, to ‘colour’ the different lines of the greeting……Old Olive, Garden Green and Pretty Peacock.

Now, for the inside. I had been toying with the idea of a pop up card that incorporated a gift card holder (see later in the post). I am using the A Walk in the Forest designer series paper. Not only is this paper gorgeous, it is the product chosen by Stampin’ Up! for its Making a Difference program.

People are at the heart of what we do! Each year with our product giveback program, we look to support organisations in our communities that strive to make a positive difference for those in need. This year, we’re supporting AngliCare’s Toys n’ Tucker in Australia and Christmas Box in New Zealand.

Our featured product is the A Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper (item 162377), which you can find in the September–December 2023 Mini Catalogue. For every paper sold, we will donate $4.25 AUD | $4.50 NZD to a variety of charities throughout our global community.

Many of us have found ourselves in circumstances where we’ve needed some extra help and have been so grateful for the generosity of others. And we hope that you will join us in our efforts to give back!

And, this is what I came up with……

The A Walk in the Forest DSP coordinates with the Merriest Trees bundle. Even better, the tree dies actually cut out the trees from one the papers. After creating my pop up mechanism I adhered three trees to a Deckled Circle. The circle was adhered to the front of my popped up piece. I chose trees that coordinated in colour to the colours used in the greeting on the front of the card.

In keeping with the Deckled Circles used on the inside, I decided to use the Deckled Rectangles to cut down and matt the greeting. However, I wasn’t overly happy with my decision so I kept it super simple for my subsequent cards. I also added 8 adhesive-backed glitter sequins as a finishing touch.

the other cards:

These are the three additional cards that I made and……

……this is what they look like on the inside. For the Balmy Blue card I actually stamped and diecut the trees using the Merriest Trees bundle.

I will admit that I dug through my stash to find these red rhinestones as I thought they worked the best with the DSP that I used as a backdrop.

And finally, here you can see where I have hidden the gift voucher envelope. These perfect little envelopes can be found on pages 62 and 76 of the mini catalogue. My adult children prefer the universal gift voucher at Christmas (money), so I like to create a special card in which to hide their gift.

Art With Heart Team | Heart of Christmas blog hop:

It’s now time to hop on over to our next participant, the lovely and talented Christine Blain. I can’t wait to see what she’s made this week!

If at any time you find a broken link, please head back to the blog of Sharon Davern who is the host of the Heart of Christmas Blog Hop. There you will find the list of all who are participating this week.

Enjoy the rest of the hop and thanks for stopping by tonight. I hope you are inspired to start your Christmas card making and I that you will visit again next Monday for more Christmas ideas and fun.

In the meantime, if you would like a copy of the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue and/or Sept-Dec 2023 Mini Catalogue, please contact me and I will pop them in the post for you.

Michele.

Fabulous cards, Michele! I absolutely love the large greetings in this stamp set. I’m still sitting on the fence as to whether I NEED to add it to my next order. Your cards may have just pushed me over the edge! I love the simplicity of the designed front of the cards, and I can just imagine the reactions when they are opened by the lucky recipients of them.

  2. Kate Morgan

I too, love the simplicity of this sentiment stamped in multiple colours with great DSPs, but wow, I love the insides of these cards, Michele. Not only an amazing pop up scene, but also to hide a gift card! Brilliant cards.

  3. Rosa Leyden

Michele I love the front of your cards where you have inked up the sentiment in colours to match with the DSP. They are striking fonts on these stamps. Love the pop up Chrissy trees hiding the additional voucher holder.

  4. Theresa Gerrard

Wow you have been busy Michele. Like Christine said I was enjoying the card fronts without even seeing the inside but wow! you’ve really stepped them up. They all look fabulous.

  5. Catherine Proctor

What a wonderful idea to use the DSP on the inside of the card too, Michelle. I love the graphic quality of your cards and the pop-up elements too. And here’s to the “universal gift voucher”, beloved by all teenage and adult children!!!

  6. Andrea Sargent

Simply gorgeous cards Michele … and then they open up to show wonderful pop up trees inside the cards. I love the simplicity of the card fronts with DSP backgrounds and delightful focal sentiment panels. The deckled circles are wonderful as the background for the trees. A special set of Christmas cards. xxx

  7. Rachel Woollard

You’ve used this beautiful paper really effectively Michele. All of the designs you’ve chosen work beautifully together and with the Merriest Trees dies. Great idea to add the gift voucher holder behind the trees

  8. CHRISTINE BLAIN

Oh, you are too clever, Michele! When I saw the front of your first card, I really liked the graphic simplicity of it (and the colour-matching of the beautiful sentiment to the paper) … but then, it became “next level” when you showed the inside. What a great gift each of these cards is. I do love your term “universal gift voucher” – that made me laugh! LOVE the matchy-matchy designs on each of your cards, and I really like your use of bling. 🙂
