Welcome to the Art With Heart Team Creative Showcase for the month of December. This month the members of the team were challenged to create cards with a Summer vibe.
Now, when I think summer I think of the beach and/or long hot summers in NE Victoria. I wasn’t sure I could convey the heat, the noise of the cicadas, the violence of the sudden and very short summer storms, the mozzies, the smell of calamine lotion, etc of the North East on a card, so I went for the easy option……the BEACH. 🙂

My card features paper from one of my favourite paper packs, Whale of a Time. The patterns and colour palette in this DSP are seriously gorgeous.
I added some vellum seaweed using a die from the Smooth Sailing set of dies. The cute little ‘bathing box’ is from the soon to be retired Home Together dies. Nothing says Summer holidays in Melbourne like the rows of colourful bathing boxes that line the beaches in places like Brighton and along the coast of the Mornington Peninsula.
Using the NEW blending brushes (available 5 January 2021) I coloured a panel on which to create my little scene. The ribbon and sentiment are another SNEAK PEEK of just some of the gorgeous new products on offer in the recently released January-June 20221 Mini Catalogue. I loved the simple greeting and thought the card might be perfect for someone retiring or making a sea change.

OMG, the addition of the birds on the circle panel is sooo cute! I adore the vellum seaweed with the soft colour underneath. Fab card!
A lovely beach-y card Michele. I love the Whale of a Time DSP – it makes a great background. The vellum seaweed and the little bathing box with the different shaped labels work so well together to convey “summer”. xxx
Great card Michele, you’ve even made the bathing boxes look wood grained. I love the colours in this paper too, so easy to work with.
