Global Design Project – Sketch Challenge #GDP214

It has been a while since I last contributed a card to the Global Design Project but I was inspired to do so again by this week’s sketch challenge #GDP214.

My husband is a keen fly fisherman and I recently purchased the Best Catch stamp set during the Stampin’ Up! 24 hour sale in late October. Not only does my husband like to fish, he also ties fishing flies. On a recent fishing trip I sat on the bank of the river and watched him casting and the idea for this card was hatched.

For my design to work I needed to turn the sketch 90 degrees. On the small Whisper White panel I stamped the fisherman before attaching one of my husband’s flies to the end of the line. The hook of the fly is hidden within a very small circle of foam so that the recipient of the card can actually pull the fly out and use it the next time they go fishing. This version features Shaded Spruce.

I love how the Wrapped in Plaid DSP works for not only Christmas cards and was motivated to make another version with another strip of this designer series paper pack. For this one I mounted the stamped and embossed panel on a Cherry Cobbler standard sized notecard.

Please make sure to check out how other crafty stampers have interpreted the sketch by following the link to the Global Design Project blog.

If you live in Australia and would like a copy of the 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue please contact me and I would be happy to put one in the post for you.
