I love magnolias! They bring back memories of my childhood spent in the North East of Victoria visiting family. These days Stephen and I still love to visit the beautiful North East and the size and number of the magnolia trees never ceases to amaze me. Some of the flowers are as big as dinner plates. We recently planted three magnolias in our own garden, however they are yet to flower, although they have grown like topsy.
Therefore, I was keen to get my hands on the new Good Morning Magnolia Bundle. My aim this year is to ensure that I make 3 to 4 cards with each stamp set that I purchase so I sat down to design three cards using this gorgeous bundle – one for a beginner, one for a casual stamper and one for an avid crafter. When I was playing with the stamps, dies and designer series paper I made a very happy discovery. The small magnolia die actually cuts out the small magnolia on one of the pieces of designer series paper, perfectly! Winner!!! I was able to cut 19 magnolias and 11 different stitched labels using the Stitched Nested Labels dies.
My first card is simple but I think quite elegant. I love that the leaves from the To A Wild Rose stamp set work so well with the small and large magnolias. After stamping the leaves directly onto the front of the card I used one of the die cut magnolias, a stitched nested label, some gold thread, a sentiment and some sequins to complete the grouping.
My second card uses another piece of designer series paper and the larger magnolia stamp which I stamped onto both the card front and the designer series paper panel. I also used die cut magnolias, stitched nested labels, gold thread and sequins on this card. Using the Well Written dies I die cut the word birthday three times and adhered them one on top of each other to give the sentiment some dimension before adding it to the card front.
My third card was a bit of a labour of love. I die cut three circles form the front panel before embossing it using the Subtle embossing folder. I then mounted it onto a piece of designer series paper using dimensionals (lots and lots of them) and then adhered the whole panel onto the card front. I then decorated each circle with die cut magnolias and leaves. I also added a sentiment and some sequins and pearls as the finishing touch.
On two of the cards I used a Mother’s Day sentiment that is long retired. Itty Bitty Greetings has a lovely Mother’s Day sentiment that would substitute perfectly. It is a versatile set that has greetings to suit so many occasions.
The beautiful Good Morning Magnolia bundle and the Magnolia Lane DSP will be available to purchase on June 4. It is a must have and should certainly be on your wishlist.
