The countdown to Christmas is officially on with the first of our family celebrations this Sunday. I have nearly finished wrapping the presents, the house is ‘clean’ and decorated and the food and drink are organised. But……there is always a little time for crafting. While making the last few Christmas cards for this year I decided to change up the colour scheme. I am a traditionalist but after making quite a few red and green cards I thought I would let my hair down and use Melon Mambo and Coastal Cabana with a touch of Gray Granite. The Hearts Come Home stamp set is one of my all time favourites. I just love the sentiments and those little house are adorable. Using my trusty Stamparatus I stamped a wreath design and the sentiment in the centre. I matted the stamped panel firstly with silver foil cardstock and then a piece of Coastal Cabana designer series paper. This particular paper has been retired but the 6 x 6 Brights Designer Series Paper pack offers some lovely patterns as an alternative. I am not sure that you can see it in the photo but I did emboss the Coastal Cabana piece of paper with the Subtle embossing folder. The entire panel was then mounted on a square Melon Mambo card. A little bit of Wink of Stellar and a few clear rhinestone were added as a finishing touch.
I really enjoy the challenge of contributing to the AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop each week. It encourages me to use colours that I haven’t used before and it causes me to think outside the box in regards to different colour combinations. Hopefully I will be back next week but it is the ‘silly season’ so who knows?
