And now for something a little different…..

With all the excitement of the imminent release of the 2019 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue I have been busy designing and making Christmas cards. So today I thought I might take a break from Christmas and make some birthday cards as we have a few birthday celebrations coming up this month. I particularly needed a couple of more masculine or neutral cards. With all the pretty flowers stamps and gorgeous designer series papers in the range it is just so easy to create something feminine. I used a piece of the Wrapped in Plaid DSP (this will be available as of 4 September) as a starting point. It may be in the Holiday Catalogue but I think it works perfectly for birthdays as well. I used the Everything Amazing Stamp Set to created two different square cards. For the first I used my Stamparatus to stamp a circular or wreath design and for the second (featured above) the Stamparatus made the two step stamping an absolute breeze. I mounted the large stamp on one side of the plate and the inset words on the other side and I was able to stamp out a number of panels in quick succession. The sentiment on Card One comes from Itty Bitty Birthdays. The little gold stars on Card Two were punched from gold foil using the Twinkle Builder punch.

I also made a more feminine version of card one. I used a piece of retired designer series paper as my matt……because I have so much paper (too much actually) tucked away in my craft room. However, this design would look lovely matted with a piece of paper from either the Subtles or Regals 6in x 6in Designer Series Paper packs.

Thanks Michele.
