Welcome to the Colour Creations Showcase……the 2020-2021 version. This weekly showcase is brought to you by the Stampin’ Up! Art With Heart Team, Australia.
Week Twelve: Crumb Cake
Crumb Cake is a colour that I use often. It forms part of the Stampin’ Up! Neutrals Colour Collection and is just that……a soft natural kraft colour. There are several Crumb Cake products available in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. These include Classic Stampin’ Pad, A4 Cardstock, Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill, Stamp’ Blends Combo Pack and the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Neutrals Assortment.
Crumb Cake is featured in three fabulous Designer Series Paper packs. The World of Good Specialty DSP is part of the World of Good Suite and can be found on pages 24 to 26 of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue and both the Gilded Autumn Specialty and Plaid Tidings 6″ x 6″ DSPs can be found in the August – December 2020 Mini Catalogue.
cards 1 & 2:
All three of my cards today feature paper from the Poinsettia Place designer series paper pack. I love the two tones of green and I really love the addition of the Bumble Bee and Soft Suede to what would otherwise be a very traditional Christmas colour palette.
Cards one and two use the papers that feature pine cones. When I saw these papers I was reminded to use the Peaceful Boughs stamp set and coordinating Beautiful Boughs dies. These products can be found in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue and were an absolute favourite of mine last year. I was thrilled when they were carried over.
card 3:
Card three uses my least favourite design from the paper pack. I actually challenged myself to use it.
The use of Crumb Cake as a neutral helped to ‘dull’ the very busy design. The large panel of woodgrain also helped. Using the absolutely must have Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper I recreated one of the poinsettias from the paper. Many of the images in these papers can be diecut using the Poinsettia dies. WINNER!!! I backed the diecut with Crumb Cake and then added some Bumble Bee to the centre using a sponge dauber. The gorgeous beaded pearls embellishment added a lovely finishing touch. The very simple greetings comes from the Peace & Joy stamp set.
Consequently, I love the result. A great neutral like Crumb Cake can be a game changer when using bright, busy and/or loud patterned papers and that is why it is one of my go-to neutrals.
Just a note: The edges of all pieces of designer series papers I used on both cards were sponged with Crumb Cake. I am not a fan of the white core that shows when you cut some papers so I do tend to sponge the edges and I really love the effect.
Thanks for visiting but, there is so much more to see. Please hop back to Catherine’s blog where you will find links to all the other team members and their gorgeous creations.
If you would like to purchase any of the products that I used when creating this card, the links are included below. If you would like a copy of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue please contact me and I will pop one in the post for you.
Thanks Michele.

Lovely Christmas cards. The second one is my favourite with a variety of DSP and angles.
All of your cards are beautiful Michele! But I especially love your second one and how you have picked the elements from the DSP and them used them as embelishments
Three absolutely wonderful cards! I have to say though, that number two is my favourite. The stamped branches and die cut pine cones are fabulous.
Beautiful cards, Michele, I especially love the second card and the direction of the layers, but all wonderful projects.
I love your cards Michele, you have showcased Crumb Cake well!!
I really like all of your cards Michele and your colour combinations but I think the one that really catches my eye in particular tonight is your second card, I really love the layout and the way you have composed that card. All 3 are great!
They’re all great Christmas cards Michelle, and I do like the way you’ve used DSP, including your least favourite. I think it looks lovely actually, but its all in the layering I guess.
Three great cards, Michele. I really like the addition of the gold foil on cards 1 & 2. Card 2 has a great layout. The poinsettia on your third card looks great backed with the Crumb Cake and I also like the sponged Bumble Bee colour.
Great product coordination there Michele, and lovely alternative Christmas scheme.
Michelle thank you for the tip on sponging the edges – I always forget to do this! I’m super impressed with all your cards but especially the third one where you challenged yourself to use the paper you didn’t like. Thank you for inspiring us all with your crumb cake creation!
Lovely use of earthy tones on your card, Michele … and great work, “neutralising” that paper a bit on your third card! All of your cards are beautiful. Love the woodgrain.
